Making a good first impression
The annual "Mocktails" event gave Northampton Community College Monroe students the opportunity to learn how to make a good impression when mingling and dining with prospective employers or clients on April 4 in Keystone Hall. Students had the opportunity to meet with both large and small employers from the Monroe area, including representatives of ESSA Bank and Trust Foundation, Weiler Corporation, St. Luke's Monroe, Lehigh Valley Pocono Hospital, Bushkill Group, Inc., and Sanofi Pasteur, some of whom were looking for interns and potential employees.
The keynote speaker was Suzie T. Farley, vice president of ESSA Bank and Trust. Farley has been with the bank over 19 years, managing the charitable foundation since 2002, and overseeing the Investor Relations program at ESSA Bancorp, Inc. since 2007. During a four-course dinner following the reception,
Bob Meyer, the general manager of Sodexo food service at Northampton drew on his thirty years of experience in the hospitality field to coach students in the fine points of business dining - from which fork to use when, to what not to order to avoid embarrassment.
