Winter Chill, Holiday Thrill

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Mia Rossi,

The smell of hot chocolate in the air, festive music to get you in the mood and a live nativity scene? It sounds like Winterfest to me! A lot was happening this year at the Winterfest celebration on Bethlehem Campus on December 6.

A crafters corner with coloring, ornament making, and more was set up by the entrance to College Center. People made decorations of dreidels, three wise men, Chinese New Year monkeys and jingle necklaces...oh, my!

International holiday sweets such as Swedish Lussekatter and Malaysian Nastar were handed out for students, faculty and staff to sample. Jelly filled donuts and rice pudding beckoned to passersby. If popcorn was more your speed, you could have it savory or sweet with white chocolate drizzled on top.

With all that food, what was there to drink? Next to the hot cocoa bar sat two large containers of nonalcoholic coquito, a type of Spanish eggnog. Delicious and with a coconut twist, this drink was a hit at the event! There was also a tea station with honey from the East 40 Garden to add if you desired.

Everyone stopped by to create their own cards for the elderly at assisted living facilities and nursing homes to make their season brighter.

Even though it was chilly outside, Winterfest spread cheer that warmed everyone’s hearts on campus that day! Check out photos here.
