The Heart and Soul of NCC Monroe
When people speak about the Monroe Campus, they always allude to a certain feeling or vibe, an x-factor that you just can't put your finger on. What makes this NCC campus so special was on full display at the fun and energetic Déjà Brew coffeehouse on October 22.
Live music, "life-changing" cupcakes and other delicious baked goods, and of course, coffee, are just a small part of what makes this event great. What really takes it to the next level are the students, faculty and staff. Smiling, joking, dancing. Cheering each other on as they perform. Sitting together over a cup of coffee and talking about their day. Singing along with SideArm. Working the refreshment stand, the raffle table, and t-shirt sales, all for a wonderful cause: the Stephanie Rivera Scholarship Fund.
One hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale of desserts and beverages benefit the scholarship fund created by NCC Monroe Student Governance to honor Stephanie Rivera, an NCC Monroe communications studies major and Student Governance secretary killed in a 2009 car accident.
If you want to experience Déjà Brew for yourself (and you really, really should!) save the date for Wednesday, November 19. That's when the next coffeehouse will take place, from 5 to 9 p.m. in 108 Pocono Hall. Hope to see you there! Admission is free.
