Students came in from the cold on January 22 to party Hawaiian style at Spartan Fest, the annual party held to kick off the start of the spring semester. Upon entering the Student Life Zone, students were greeted with brightly colored leis and grass skirts they could wear. Many came already dressed in beach attire, mostly shorts and t-shirts. But whether students wore flip-flops or boots, they all came ready to party!
Whether it was bending to the max in a limbo contest, hanging ten on the mechanical surfboard, or doing some serious hip shaking at the hula hoop contest, plenty of party fun was to be found. Take a look in this video. When all that partying worked up an appetite, students feasted on fruit salad, pineapple upside down cake, and Jambalaya.
It wasn't all play and no work! Students flocked to the tables set up in the Zone to learn about NCC clubs, organizations and services that will help ensure a successful (and fun!) spring semester. They also got self-defense tips with a gravity-defying demonstration by members of the Self-Defense Club.
