Savor the Flavor

If great food and remarkable libations are what make your world go 'round, there was no better place to be than the 7th Annual Lehigh Valley Food and Wine Festival, held on June 3-5. Spread throughout the Sands Event Center were representatives from multiple restaurants, vineyards and distilleries, offering up tasty and generous samples of their wares.

The event, sponsored by Northampton Community College and the Sands Bethlehem, drew over 3,000  attendees from Pennsylvania and surrounding states for the two-day Grand Tasting. The Festival began in 2010 as a way to provide hands-on experience to Northampton's culinary and hospitality management students, raise money for the NCC Foundation, and celebrate the tantalizing dining experiences available in the Lehigh Valley.

Tickets for the festival included not only cuisine and beverage tasting, but also cooking demos and wine seminars by experienced chefs, sommeliers and vintners on both Saturday and Sunday. Entertainment was provided by Craig Thatcher Band and Billy Bauer Band. Thirty-three restaurants were represented at the Grand Tasting.

The festivities kicked off Friday afternoon with a sold-out culinary demonstration by Chef Emeril Lagasse. After the demo, Chef Emeril announced the six NCC culinary and hospitality students who won an opportunity to travel to New Orleans and work alongside the celebrity chef in his restaurants. Winners are:
