Congrats to hospitality program for earning accreditation from ACPHA
This summer, Northampton Community College became the only community college in Pennsylvania to have their hospitality management program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality (ACPHA). The accreditation will enable graduates to be awarded a certified hospitality graduate designation.
ACPHA is a private, nonprofit body comprised of hospitality, tourism and business professionals from across the country. The commission's standards set a national benchmark for the effective instruction of programs across the United States.
"We wanted to ensure that the hospitality management program was in compliance with nationally recognized standards," says David Schweiger, director of NCC's hospitality program. "By receiving this 'stamp of approval' from a nationally recognized body, we can say that we are one of the best of the best."
NCC Hospitality Management Program awards associate in applied science degrees in hospitality management with hotel and restaurant management options and in meeting and event planning. Specialized diplomas are awarded in dining room operations, hotel management, meeting and events planning, resort management and restaurant management.
