Students celebrating D'Versapalooza 2013What would make students stand on a line so long it spilled out of the Community Room entrance on March 7?

Food, of course! But this was no ordinary fare. In honor of the annual party to celebrate world Chefs (and staff members)!cultures, Student Services and Enrollment staff members cooked up tasty dishes to represent foods from around the world. The home-made offerings included Italian meatballs, Asian coleslaw, Irish soda bread, German potato salad, bratwurst and sauerkraut, Swedish meatballs (and Swedish fish!), Spanish rice, green beans, apple crumb cake and sweet potato pie.

The Band of Brothers Club provided information about Vietnam and the Vietnam War. Club member Adam Mikuchonis invited Vietnam veterans Howard Polbos, Brian Koehler, and Glen Lippincott to talk with students about their experiences during the war.Adam Mikuchonis, Howard Polbos, Brian Koehler, Glen Lippincott, and Rob Fischetti

Student Governance sponsored a table which provided information about the Inuit people of the Arctic regions while members served up Sno Cones.

Students had the chance to explore other clubs at Monroe at different informational tables. They also had the opportunity to learn about a study abroad trip in Peru to be held this summer. The three-week trip is part of a summer course in sustainable energy in developing communities. The students will build a wind turbine and bring power and light to an entire community.
