Northampton Community College (NCC) reports a small rise from last year (90%) in rates of job placement and continued education for the Class of 2013, based on a survey conducted by the career services office.
The Class of 2013 is comprised of individuals who completed their programs in August 2012, December 2012 and May 2013-a total of 1,775 graduates. Eighty-three percent of the degree, certificate and specialized diploma graduates provided information for the report. Among the highlights:
• 91% of respondents were either employed or continuing their educations.
• The highest median salary was $76,440 for graduates of the computer maintenance program; however, only two of the employed graduates reported their salary. The second highest median salary, $58,240, was reported by dental hygiene graduates, although it is important to note that many positions are part-time. The third highest median salary, $51,355 was reported by diagnostic medical sonography program graduate.
•High job placement was reported in radiography (100% of 24 graduates), automative technology (96% of 29 graduates), and in culinary arts (88% out of 27 graduates).
•Graduates continued their educations at 97 different educational institutions with East Stroudsburg, Kutztown, Temple, DeSales, Penn State (College Park and Lehigh Valley campuses), Bloomsburg, West Chester universities and Cedar Crest, Moravian and Cedar Crest colleges receiving the highest number of graduates. Students also transferred to Drexel, Fairleigh Dickinson, Arizona State, Marywood, and many other universities.
