Dog of the Week - Sky

Sky loves to swim in the creek

Your name:   Tina Frindt

Job title/department:   Director/Driver Training

What is your dog’s name?   Sky

How old is your dog?   10 1/2

Pure breed or mixed mutt?   Shephard lab mix

What is your dog’s gender?   Male

Describe your dog in three words:   Smart, silly, and lovable

What is the thing your dog cannot live without?    My husband! When we arrive home Sky will run past me to greet my husband. Once he gets attention from him Sky will come to me for some additional loving!

Can your dog do tricks? If so, what?   Sit, stay, heel, find, beg for food (my husband taught him that one!). If a hit my thigh with my hand he will put his head between my hand and thigh. He will then stay at my side and follow me until I let him free.

What is the best trick your dog has taught you?   Sky taught us and company how to get him treats. He barks until you go into the pantry and get him a treat!

Do you have a nickname for your dog?   Nut dog

Does your dog enjoy bath time?   Not really but loves swimming in the creek behind our house.

You know your dog is in a good mood when he/she does this:    When he wags his tail it goes in a circle. When I come home from work I chase him around the yard and he acts like a crazy dog...thus the nickname nut dog!

Your dog’s favorite spot to hangout is:   Under our camper in the shade or on his bed by the couch.

Favorite toy:   Anything that squeaks

One habit you would love to change:   The barking to get snacks.

Does your dog prefer to play with people, or other dogs?   Both

Does your dog like children?   Yes, they hold their food at just the right height!

If you could ask your dog one question and they’d be able to answer it, what would it be?  Are you glad your first family gave you up?

Can your dog read your emotions?   Absolutely! If you are sad he will sit by you and put his paw up. When sick he will lay by your side.

Funniest moment you’ve had with your dog:   He loves to lay on his side and slide down the sand mound. One winter it was a sheet of ice and he slid down the sand mound and kept right on going! If I am leaving, Sky will wrap his leg around my husband’s leg in an effort to keep him from leaving. He knows the UPS driver has snacks on his truck. If the driver is delivering a package to a neighbor and is parked in our driveway, Sky will jump in the truck and wait for the driver to return. He is not going to miss out on a snack!

What is the most rewarding aspect of owning your dog?  He is loving and just accepts us for who we are.

Additional Comments:  We adopted Sky after my husband got hurt. Sky truly looks after my husband and will push him to the couch if he is overdoing it. We are so lucky to be his people!
