Judith Rex, director of healthcare education in Northampton Community College's Center for Business and Industry, was named a Lehigh Valley "Healthcare Hero" at a ceremony hosted by Lehigh Valley Business on April 3.
She was one of ten individuals honored for "significant impact on the quality of health care" in the region.
Rex joined the staff at Northampton in 2002. A registered nurse who holds both bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing and who is now pursuing her doctorate, Rex has spearheaded many initiatives to foster the development of health care professionals.
Those programs range from an "Adventures in Health Care Camp" for young people, to continuing education programs for employees of local hospitals, to training programs for emergency medical personnel.
Passionate about what she does, Rex says, "The most common misperception of the health care field is that it is easy. It takes a very caring, dedicated person to be able to do what health care professionals do."
Rex fits the description.
