NCC Medicinal Garden

The modern medicinal garden is based on designs and plant materials first used in the 14th century in Venice, Italy. Early gardens were founded by members of the medical profession to provide herbs necessary for healing practices and apothecaries.

The medicinal garden at NCC is home today to over 15 herbs and plants that would have been used for healing in a mediaeval garden. Established in 2010 as part of a Science Club student service learning project, the garden continues to be the site of ongoing student learning and several groups since 2010 have been involved in mapping, maintenance and research projects.
