Scott J. Blair, M.Ed., is Northampton Community College’s inaugural Chief Diversity Officer and leads the College’s efforts in advancing diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the institution and oversees NCC’s Title IX unit.
Prior to joining NCC, Blair served as the Director of Student Diversity and Inclusion, and also as Interim Chief Diversity Officer at SUNY-ESF (Syracuse, NY). He coordinated programming efforts to improve ESF’s inclusive campus climate, provided support and mentorship to the College’s underrepresented students, faculty and staff and oversaw the creation of ESF’s first Diversity Strategic Plan (2016).
Blair has also held a variety of positions in diversity, academic and student support at SUNY-ESF and Syracuse University. While with United University Professions (New York) – the nation’s largest higher education faculty/staff union- Blair served as a chapter president, chapter diversity officer and a member of UUP’s State-wide Black and Latino Faculty/Staff Concerns Committee.
Mr. Blair earned his Bachelor of Science in Education degree in Secondary Education/English and a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. In his 15 years in Higher Education, Mr. Blair has received numerous awards for his service and student advocacy and is a member of the National Association of Diversity Officer’s in Higher Education (NADOHE) and received an Executive Leadership Certificate from the University of Southern California’s Rossier School of Education - Race and Equity Center.
