Due to continuing water system issues, a boil water advisory has been issued which will affect the Monroe Campus through Wed., Feb. 28. "Do Not Drink Water" signs are posted at all water sources and bottled water will be available in Pocono Hall at the Food Court area at no charge.

Veterans Oral History

A $134,400 grant from the United States Department of Transportation will enable Northampton Community College to offer free commercial truck driver training to current and former members of the military and their spouses who reside in Northampton, Monroe, Pike, Wayne, Carbon, or Lackawanna counties.  Members of the National Guard and the Reserves are included.

The grant will cover full tuition - $4200.  The only cost to students will the permit cost which averages $83.50 and the Hazardous Material Threat Assessment ($60.00).  Day and evening classes run throughout the year at Northampton Community College's campus in Tannersville.  Day classes meet Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm for six weeks.  Evening classes meet Monday through Friday from 5:00 pm - 10 pm and Saturdays from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm for eight weeks. The next classes begin in December.  For additional information, call 570.369.1885. More than 1,400 people have completed NCC's truck driver training program, which has a job placement rate of 90 percent.
