Class of 2020: Lily Adefila

#NCCGrad

“My passion for problem solving is a driver for me,"  says Lily Adefila.  She even taught herself coding.  This passion and her desire to give her children a good life and legacy inspired her to enroll at NCC, a college she chose for its cost-effectiveness, proximity, diversity, and commitment of staff.

A computer information technology/application development major from Bethlehem, Adefila achieved membership in the Phi Theta Kappa honors society, while juggling her role as a full-time mom and work study student.

She admired and appreciated her professors. “The zest of the professors to transfer knowledge and work together with students to ensure academic success is awesome!”  She also enjoyed meeting wonderful people from staff to students, who have contributed to her life.

Her advice for incoming students: “You have to give it your best.  Do not hesitate to ask questions in class.  Optimize the resources at your disposal; use the learning center, library, approach  professors for guidance, and work with students who are willing to share their knowledge.”

She says that she learned a lot at NCC, going from layman to one who develops software applications, designs programs and does programming.

Adefila plans to further her knowledge and skills at Muhlenberg College, where she will pursue a bachelor’s degree in information systems management.  Her ultimate goal is to be a software applications developer.
