Harley plays the piano, paints and is learning his colors!
Your name: Donna White
Job title/department: FEC Community Manager/PSECU
What kind of pet do you have (dog, cat, bird, etc.)? pot-bellied pig
What is your pet’s name? Harley
How did you come up with this name? I couldn't think of anything else so I named him after my 1200 HD Sportster
How old is your pet? 6 years old
What is your pet’s gender? Male
Describe your pet in three words: intelligent, pig-headed, adorable
What is the thing your pet cannot live without? food, treats, did I mention food?
Can your pet do tricks? If so, what? He sits, circles left, circles right, he plays the piano, he paints. I started teaching him his colors
What is the best trick your pet has taught you? To give him treats by doing tricks without asking! Who could refuse his face!
Do you have a nickname for your pet? Harley Boy
You know your pet is in a good mood when he/she does this: He makes certain pig noises to let me know if he is in a good mood, or if he is not in a good mood. His vet thinks he may be cursing sometimes!
Your pet’s favorite spot to hangout is: either by the bay window in the dining room or outside in the clover field
Favorite toy: treat toy he pushes around that dispenses pellets
One habit you would love to change: Sometimes he likes to challenge me when I'm sitting on "his" couch. I've always shown him I was TOP Pig with a sorting board. When he sees the board he runs away from it. It's actually pretty funny to watch.
Does your pet prefer to play with people, or other animals? He loved our cat who could care less about him. He tolerates our dog. He loves me and dad and is weary of outsiders
Does your pet like children? Yes
If you could ask your pet one question and they’d be able to answer it, what would it be? Would you want another pig in the family?
Can your pet read your emotions? Absolutely
Funniest moment you’ve had with your pet: Sometimes he bucks and goes in a circle. I call it rodeo pig.
What is the most rewarding aspect of owning your pet? I take him to events and teach people about the fallacy of "teacup pigs." There is no such thing, but compared to a farm hog, a pot-belly could be considered a teacup.
Additional comments: I brought Harley to NCC for my informational speech in Speech Communications class.
