Odin lives for the snow and cold weather!

Your name:       Dale Ritter

Job title/department:     Adjunct Professor / History

What kind of pet do you have (dog, cat, bird, etc.)?       dog

What is your pet’s name?     Odin

How did you come up with this name?    We looked at him when he was a little pup and knew he'd be a big guy - so we thought of what we took as a big guy's name.

How old is your pet?  9 years old

What is your pet’s gender?   Male

Describe your pet in three words:    snow-dog, teddy-bear, guardian

What is the thing your pet cannot live without?     Odin absolutely lives for the snow and cold weather.

Can your pet do tricks? If so, what?     He only knows the basics but when you first come home his ears go back and his whole big body wriggles as he talks and talks while he greets you most affectionately.

What is the best trick your pet has taught you?      stamina in the cold - he will stay outside, lying in the snow, being buried by snowfall, simply enjoying himself mightily

Do you have a nickname for your pet?   Odie, Otis, Odie-bear

You know your pet is in a good mood when he/she does this:   wriggles and talks in his doggie way

Your pet’s favorite spot to hangout is:   the deck - 2nd floor deck where he can observe our backyard and the fields beyond

Favorite toy:    any chewy toy

One habit you would like to change:    can't think of any

Does your pet prefer to play with people, or other animals?    he loves everyone - we have two other dogs and they are best friends

Does your pet like children?   Yes

If you could ask your pet one question and they’d be able to answer it, what would it be?    What is your favorite food? Other than ice cream...he is an ice cream junkie.

Can your pet read your emotions?     Sure - when you are down or sick he likes to check on you.

Funniest moment you’ve had with your pet:     Watching him play with his sister in their kiddie pool. He spins round and round and pounces on her.

What is the most rewarding aspect of owning your pet?   the love - total love and loyalty all day, everyday

Additional comments:   Odin is an Akita -- my second Akita - I love the breed for their love and loyalty and guardianship of our family. They are also super-protective and tolerant of kids.
