Pet-of-the-Day - Meet Poppy
- General
- March 26, 2020
Poppy is named after my dad, aka "PopPop!"
Your name: Amy Rotzell
Job title/department: Fab Lab Assistant
What kind of pet do you have (dog, cat, bird, etc.)? Cat
What is your pet’s name? Poppy
How did you come up with this name? My dad didn't like cats very much, but since I did, we always had them growing up. Even though he wasn't a cat person, we had two cats that LOVED my dad, a tiger and a pure white cat. Poppy is a mix of both of them. My dad passed away in 2015 and we had a pillow made from one of his flannel shirts. Several times, when we couldn't find her, she was cuddle up asleep next to this pillow. So we named her Poppy after my dad, aka "PopPop"
How old is your pet? 9 weeks (as of October 15)
What is your pet’s gender? Female
Describe your pet in three words: spunky, loving, good
What is the thing your pet cannot live without? Her buddy, Prince! My other cat who is about 4 years old. They are best buds already.
Can your pet do tricks? If so, what? Nope!
You know your pet is in a good mood when he/she does this: She is in her happy place when she is playing with her toys.
Your pet’s favorite spot to hangout is: On my son's bed in the sunlight, with Prince.
Favorite toy: A stick with jingle bells on it
One habit you would love to change: She chews on our feet!
Does your pet prefer to play with people, or other animals? Both. She loves to play with everyone!
Does your pet like children? Yes
If you could ask your pet one question and they’d be able to answer it, what would it be? Where did you come from? She was left on the side of the road at 3 weeks old. We brought her in and had to bottle feed her. Although she didn't know how to eat yet, she used the litter box right away and knew how to wash herself. No training needed. I don't know if someone dropped her off or if she was a stray kitten that got lost from her mama.
Can your pet read your emotions? Not yet. But she is learning the word NO
Funniest moment you’ve had with your pet: When we first left her home alone, we put her in a playpen and covered it with a blanket. When my husband came home for lunch, she was sleeping on top of the blanket, like a hammock!
What is the most rewarding aspect of owning your pet? Cuddling at night. She goes limp in my arms and it is the best feeling.
