The Sterner children were so excited to receive Paisley as a Christmas present (2018)!
Your name: Patricia Sterner
Job title/department: Administrative Assistant Public Safety
What kind of pet do you have (dog, cat, bird, etc)? Dog
What is your pet’s name? Paisley
How did you come up with this name? I have always loved the paisley design and when I was driving in my car to pick up my children after work one day, I just knew that we needed to name her Paisley.
How old is your pet? She turned one in November.
What is your pet’s gender? Female
Describe your pet in three words: Spunky, Energetic, Cuddler
What is the thing your pet cannot live without? Her tires
Can your pet do tricks? If so, what? Her trick right now is that she is no longer eating my shoes! When she was a puppy she always ate my shoes, no one else's shoes but mine! Thankfully, I have found a toy that she loves more than my shoes and have been able to save them from disaster.
What is the best trick your pet has taught you? She has truly taught me the meaning of the saying "Just a boy and his dog." My youngest son just turned 2 and he absolutely loves Paisley. Even though she can be big and dopey sometimes and knock him over, they are best friends. She will lay down and let him crawl on her. He has to feed her every night and after he gives her the food, he has to sit next to her and watch her eat, petting her head saying "Good Puppy." She is spunky and energetic, but when it comes to my children, she always lets them love on her.
Do you have a nickname for your pet? PayPay (My 6 year old calls her that)
You know your pet is in a good mood when he/she does this: Climbs in your lap and wants to cuddle you. It is not always very nice since she is 70 pounds!
Your pet’s favorite spot to hangout is: She loves to lay in her bed or right by the edge of the sofa
Favorite toy: Mammoth Tire
One habit you would love to change: I don't think there are any habits that she has that I would want to change, however, I can't wait till she gets a little bit older and is no longer in the crazy puppy stage!
Does your pet prefer to play with people, or other animals? She loves to play with both! I take her to my mother's house so Paisley can play with her mom!
Does your pet like children? Yes
If you could ask your pet one question and they’d be able to answer it, what would it be? Why did you have to eat ALL of my shoes?!
Can your pet read your emotions? Absolutely! I have always had dogs growing up and I have yet to meet a dog that can't read my emotions!
Funniest moment you’ve had with your pet: When we got her…My mother's German Shepard had puppies with my brother's black lab. They were born in early November. My mom had asked if she could give our children one of the puppies for Christmas. Of course I said yes! On Christmas morning my mother & father showed up at our house with Paisley who was just 8 weeks old! My children were so excited and could not believe that they had just gotten a puppy for Christmas. My youngest Matthew was the first one to see the puppy and went running over. He was the most excited out of all of them.
What is the most rewarding aspect of owning your pet? The unconditional love they show you! No matter how crazy life can get they are always waiting for you to come home and so excited to see you when you finally do get home. They love with all their heart and don't hold anything back!
