- General
- October 12, 2020
Sadie once saw a herd of deer and jumped out of the rear window of the car to chase them across the field!
Your name: Mary Lou Collis
Job title/department: Room & Event Scheduler
What kind of pet do you have (dog, cat, bird, etc.)? Dog
What is your pet’s name? Sadie
How did you come up with this name? Her first family named her in Dec 2017 when she was 8 weeks old. They were an elderly couple who lived on 40 acres in Alabama and relinquished her to a shelter when she was 3 months old because they said she had too much energy for them. She was transported up here by Logan’s Heroes and we found her picture on PetFinders website May of 2018. When we adopted her they gave us a letter from her first family with details of her first 3 months of life including her name!
How old is your pet? 2 years
What is your pet’s gender? Female
Describe your pet in three words: Comical, Cute, Energetic
What is the thing your pet cannot live without? Walks
Can your pet do tricks? If so, what? Yes, she knows shake hands, high five, sit, lay down and speak. If you have a treat in your hand she will do them all at the same time without waiting for the prompt. Anything for a treat!
What is the best trick your pet has taught you? Patience. She is not the “sharpest tool in the shed” as the saying goes, so we had to learn to let go of our expectations in training her. She is absolutely adorable and makes us laugh everyday so that is enough for us!
Do you have a nickname for your pet? My husband calls her Shady and I call her Sayd.
You know your pet is in a good mood when he/she does this: She is always in a good mood. She wants to play 24-7 with her toys from her toy basket and is always up for walks, squirrel chasing and ball fetching. She also gets close on the sofa for cuddling.
Your pet’s favorite spot to hangout is: The sofa. She has either a view of our whole street or a warm spot to cuddle with one of us.
Favorite toy: Tennis ball
One habit you would like to change: She thinks our whole street is her front yard. Fortunately we live on a cul-de-sac so everyone knows and loves her
Does your pet prefer to play with people, or other animals? People
Does your pet like children? Yes
If you could ask your pet one question and they’d be able to answer it, what would it be? Tell me about your time in Alabama with your first family.
Can your pet read your emotions? I think so. I can certainly read hers. I think we have this mind-meld thing going that I can always figure out what she is trying to tell me. My husband does not have that talent!
Funniest moment you’ve had with your pet: We were driving on a country road by our cabin with a friend who had Sadie on her lap. Our friend starts to roll down the rear car window on a lovely fall morning and Sadie sees a herd of deer and jumped out of the rear window of the car to chase them across the field and disappeared. We stopped the car and started to walk to find her calling her name and after about 7 minutes she comes running back towards us. Scary, Funny, and Memorable for sure!
What is the most rewarding aspect of owning your pet? She makes us laugh with her antics every day.
