Spirit can go airborne like Tigger from "Winnie-the-Pooh!"

Meet Spirit

Your name:    Jordan Swerdel

Job title/department:   Americorps VISTA - Student Affairs

What kind of pet do you have (dog, cat, bird, etc.)?     Dog

What is your pet’s name?      Spirit

How did you come up with this name?   Spirit was adopted as a rescue from an agency in Alabama. She was given the name, according to her foster mother, because she is very "spirited."

How old is your pet?   3 years old

What is your pet’s gender?  Female

Describe your pet in three words:    Spirited, loving, spunky

What is the thing your pet cannot live without?   Licking my face

Can your pet do tricks? If so, what?   She will clean out your nostrils, given the opportunity. She can grow her very small body to take up 95% of a queen size bed. She also responds to "sit," "stay," and "come," unless she sees a rabbit or deer, in which case all bets are off.

What is the best trick your pet has taught you?    How to occupy 5% of my bed so that her 18-lb body can take up the other 95%

Do you have a nickname for your pet?    Doglet

You know your pet is in a good mood when he/she does this:    Goes airborne like Tigger from "Winnie the Pooh"

Your pet’s favorite spot to hangout is:   The back of the couch (see photo)

Favorite toy:   Tennis ball

One habit you would love to change:     I would prefer she not immediately try to eat the grossest thing we find on every walk.

Does your pet prefer to play with people, or other animals?     People

Does your pet like children?   Yes

If you could ask your pet one question and they’d be able to answer it, what would it be?     Is there anyone you WON'T lick?

Can your pet read your emotions?     YES!

Funniest moment you’ve had with your pet:    She makes me laugh every day with her incessant nostril-licking and propensity to perch on furniture like a cat.

What is the most rewarding aspect of owning your pet?   Companionship, unconditional love, unlimited entertainment.
