Spartans Recognized in Daktronics Cup

NCC athletics set program mark

For the fourth year in a row, the Northampton Community College (NCC) athletic program has achieved a high-water mark in the National Alliance of Two Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) Daktronics Cup standings, placing 22nd overall in the non-scholarship division. The 22nd finish is the highest finish to date for the Spartans. The Daktronics Cup, which began in 2004, recognizes excellence in two-year college athletics based on NJCAA national championship competition. NCC also placed second overall among all two-year colleges in the state of Pennsylvania and seventh among Region XIX schools.

"The Daktronics  Cup is a great measuring stick for our program," said Director of Athletics, Troy Tucker, "It allows us to set benchmarks and compare ourselves to peer institutions on a yearly basis.  Our goal is to "Win PA" every year, which we missed by two points, but our overall finish of 22nd is really something for everyone associated with our program to be excited about."
