New Lead-Safe Certification Training
In April 2008, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a rule requiring the use of lead safe practices to prevent lead poisoning in adults and children. Beginning in April 2010, contractors performing renovation, repair, remodeling and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities, and schools built before 1978 must be certified and must follow specific work practices to prevent contamination. Failure to comply and become Lead-Safe Certified will result in costly fines.
Who Requires Lead-Safe Certification
Painters, plumbers, carpenters, electricians & window installers who are paid to perform work that disturbs paint in housing and child-occupied facilities built before 1978.
