Spartan Wrestling Takes Third at Nationals

The Northampton Community College wrestling team finished in third place in Division II at the 2010 National Collegiate Wrestling Association National Championships, held March 11-13 at the Hampton Convocation Center in Hampton, Virginia.

Tony Fusco, Andrew Ritchie, Tyler Foreman and Ryan Cressman finished with 35.5 points, trailing only the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (64.5) and Kennesaw State (36.0).

Fusco finished in 5th place at 125, defeating John Dickinson of West Chester, 6-3.

Ritchie took silver in the 157-pound weight class for the second consecutive year, falling to Peter Rose of Southern Virginia, 7-6, in the championship bout.

Both Fusco and Ritchie earn All-American honors for their top-5 finishes.

The Spartans are coached by Mark Quagliato.
