Earn credits while studying in Costa Rica! Applications are now being accepted for POLS150: Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution (3 cr.) for Summer Session I, 2012. The trip will take place from June 12 - 25, 2012.
Students will spend time in the capital city of San Jose to learn about the culture and practice of peace in Costa Rica. They will also explore cultural sites and local customs. University instructors will give lectures on subjects such as the history and economy of Costa Rica. Students will make field visits to associated governmental, non-profit and educational institutions. The program is complemented by cultural activities and nature tours such as a sustainable coffee plantation, cloud forest, an indigenous community, and museums.
Cost is approximately $2,200. Scholarships are available to qualified students. It covers round trip airfare to Costa Rica, health insurance, accommodation with host families, meals (two per day while staying with host family), airport transportation and in-country transfers, academic and cultural lectures/activities, and admission fees for scheduled cultural visits.
