Today's office is a complex space filled with equipment and information systems that provide more opportunities for higher productivity. To complement the advances in technology, the office administrative assistant must be well-versed not only in office processes but priority setting, time management, delegation of workload, critical thinking and decision making.
Northampton strives to simplify the tasks of office administration in today's world with a 67-credit associate in applied science degree that prepares the student to accept the responsibilities and challenges expected of a skilled administrative assistant. This reputable program has been placing qualified candidates in companies throughout the region for more than 25 years.
Students may also graduate with a specialized diploma, 28 credits, as a word processing specialist. Northampton's Open Entry/Open Exit (OE/OE) option provides flexibility to let students work at their own pace to obtain an Office Skills Specialist diploma.
To produce accurate, resourceful and successful professionals, NCC's Office Administration program emphasizes technology training in word processing, spreadsheet, database, graphics, desktop publishing and major software applications such as Word, Power Point, Word Perfect, Access and Excel.
