THE POLITICAL SCIENCE / INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS CLUB
Do you stay up at night thinking about the next presidential election? Do you have persistent thoughts about becoming the next U.S. president, senator or state legislator? What about running for town or county government? Or maybe you simply want to have fun and meet other political enthusiasts while at NCC. If you do, the Political Science / International Relations (PS/IR) Club is the place for you.
The PS/IR Club is a non-partisan group open to all NCC students regardless of major. It promotes students' awareness in the political process and enhances their sense of civic duty through community service activities, panel discussions, voter registration drives, and educational trips. Club members have the opportunity to listen to political leaders speak on current issues, help with voter registration drives, and volunteer for candidates' political campaigns. Through participation in these club activities, students learn in depth about particular political problems and issues; develop skills in group planning, group cooperation, public speaking, and writing; and develop self-confidence.
Another goal of the Political Science / International Relations Club is to promote student knowledge and understanding of different countries, cultures, and traditions. Club members get an opportunity to explore a variety of global issues such as conflict resolution, global environmental issues, world poverty, religious and ethnic diversity, etc. The Club strives to broaden students' geographic horizons, i.e. to get students to think in international terms and to understand the entire global community.
