Social Work

Social WorkWhy Social Work? NCC commends students for their interest in one of today's most meaningful and fastest-growing professions. Social work isn't just a job; it's a personal mission that compels ordinary individuals to make extraordinary efforts to help others.

Social workers aim to create a more inclusive society by assisting people to live and work at their highest potential. Social work is as demanding as it is rewarding. Students looking for a solid foundation and beginning to a baccalaureate degree will be well-equipped with a wide range of knowledge, ready to make a difference in other peoples' lives.

The Best of Society: Students involved in the Social Work program possess a personal commitment to serving individuals, families, groups and communities. They have highly desired people skills and feel the need to give a voice to society's most vulnerable. They see answers in difficult situations where others may see no solution.

At NCC, students build on the NASW Code of Ethics by taking advantage of service learning opportunities and getting involved in the Social Work Club. The opportunities to make a difference are endless.

Social Work Is All Around Us: NCC asks the question "Where Are You Going?" For graduates of the Social Work program, the answer is a career in everything from youth and family services, to addiction and mental health services, to domestic violence or elder care programs. All of these programs have a pressing need for and nationwide shortage of social workers.

Social workers are educated individuals who are willing to advocate for those overlooked and left behind. NCC can put those who care about human dignity and social justice on the right path to impacting lives using their gift of leadership.

A Strong Background, a Strong Future: NCC's Social Work program offers the convenience of coursework offered on campus or online. Advisors and Social Work faculty are available to guide students through the curriculum choices. NCC also has transfer agreements in place with a number of four-year institutions.
