New Student Orientation & Course Selection 2008
We're glad that you decided to take the first step to future success with us at Northampton! We have planned a special day for you and your parent(s) that will allow you to create your Fall 2008 class schedule and help you in making the transition from High School to College.
Plan to attend an orientation program (one day only) on the campus where you anticipate taking most of your courses. General education classes can be completed at both the Bethlehem and Monroe campuses for all majors. The grid (link below) lists all majors, campus locations and dates for orientation.
These are the important steps that you should take to help you get the most out of your experience at orientation:
1. Refer to the Orientation Grid** to determine the day(s) that orientation will be held for your major. When majors are offered on multiple dates, choose the date that best fits your schedule.
**(Please note: The date for the Architecture major has moved from July 1st to June 19th. Orientation for this major is offered one day only so please note this important change.)
2. Complete the placement test(s) for English and/or Math, if needed. Placement tests must be completed prior to orientation and course selection in order to pick your classes. Please read the Placement Testing Policy for further details. Students that are exempt from placement testing based on test scores should have their SAT and/or PSSA scores sent to the Admissions Office prior to the day of Orientation.
3. RSVP by returning the mailer sent to you or by emailing your RSVP to orient@northampton.edu. Please RSVP early – at least 1 week prior to the orientation date you plan to attend. Space is limited for each program and sessions may become full! If emailing your RSVP be sure to include your name, address, major and the date that you plan to attend. Students who have registered by postcard do not need to register by email.
4. Mark your calendar with the date and time (confirmations will not be sent)! Be sure to check-in prior to 12:25 each day. Check-in will be in the Student Enrollment Center for Bethlehem (recommended parking is in Lot A) and the Enrollment Office in Monroe. Each program is scheduled to run from 12:30 pm to approximately 5:30 pm and the dates are as follows…
Bethlehem Campus: June 18, 19, 24, 25, 26 & July 1, 2
Monroe Campus: June 17, 23, 30 & July 9
5. Check out the sample agendas for students and parents. (Agendas are subject to change.)
6. Join us on the day you chose to pick your classes and learn more about what is in store for your first semester in college. Get ready for a fun and informative day!
