Admissions Procedures
*Students applying for a selective program (i.e., Culinary, Dental Hygiene, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Funeral Service, Nursing, Radiography, Sonography, Surgical Technology, Veterinary Technician)  
should also view the list of Special Requirements.
 
*These procedures are not meant to replace prospective students meeting with an Admissions Officer.  If you have any questions regarding these steps or other questions regarding admissions, programs of study, or your educational goals please contact the Admissions Office at 610-861-5500 or the Enrollment Office at the Monroe Campus at 570-620-9221
 
Step 1 – Apply for Admissions
  • Submit a completed application and $25.00 non-refundable application fee to the Admissions Office, Monroe Campus Enrollment Office, or online at http://www.northampton.edu/Admissions/apply.htm.
    • Students who have applied to Northampton in the past will need to submit a Re-Entry Form to the Records Office (no additional fee needed).
Step 2 – Apply for Financial Aid
  • Complete the Financial Aid applications (FAFSA and NCC Financial Aid Form) if you are interested in receiving Financial Aid.  
    • Forms can be picked up in the Financial Aid Office in the Student Enrollment Center or at the Monroe Campus Front Office.  (FAFSA can be completed online at www.fafsa.ed.gov)

Step 3 – Submit Transcripts (only if applying for a selective program or financial aid)

  • Submit official transcripts to the Admissions Office for all education completed (high school, GED, college).  Contact the school(s) you attended and have the transcripts sent to the Admissions Office, 3835 Green Pond Road, Bethlehem, PA 18020.
Step 4 – Placement Testing
  • Not everyone needs to complete the English and/or Math Placement Test(s).  If you are unsure which test(s) you may need to take please contact the Admissions Office (610-861-5500), the Advising Office (610-861-5346), the Monroe Campus Enrollment Office (570-620-9221), and/or view exemptions and additional information at www.northampton.edu/office/advising/testpolicy.htm.
     
  • Placement Tests are computerized, untimed, and generally take 45 minutes to 1 hour each.  Sample questions are available for students in the Admissions Office, Monroe Campus Enrollment Office or at www.act.org/compass/sample/index.html.
     
Step 5 – Meet with an Advisor (separate from an Admissions Officer)
  • Once you have completed the Placement Test(s) (if needed) you will be ready to schedule your classes.  Academic Advising is available to assist you in choosing classes to fit your educational goals. 
     
  • Advisors are available on a walk-in basis Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and *Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Bethlehem, and Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. and *Friday 12 p.m. - 4 p.m.at the Monroe Campus.  Please call the Advising Office (Bethlehem) for walk-in locations or the Enrollment Office (Monroe) to meet with an advisor at the Monroe Campus.   

* Please note that the college is closed Fridays from mid-May through mid-August.

Step 6 – Register
  • Registrations are processed at the Records and Registration Office in the Student Enrollment Center or the Monroe Campus Enrollment Office.
     
  • When you register you will receive your bill for the upcoming semester.
     
  • New/Re-entry students can register in person, by fax or by mail.  Online registration is reserved for current students only.
Step 7 – Pay Your Bill
  • Bills can be paid at the Bursar's Office in the Student Enrollment Center or at the Monroe Enrollment Office.
  •  Payment options include
     
    • Paying in full using cash, check, or credit card
       
    • Using Financial Aid (Refer to Step 2)
       
    • Enrolling in an interest-free payment plan.  See Bursar's Office or Monroe Campus Enrollment Office for details.
Step 8 – Get your books
 
  • Textbooks can be purchased in the College Bookstore (College Center 100) or at the Monroe Campus Bookstore.
     
  • Take a copy of your schedule to the bookstore and the staff at the bookstore will assist you in finding the textbook(s) needed for your class(es).
