TLTR SmartRoom/Cart Request Form ‘08-‘09

The Teaching and Learning Technology Roundtable (TLTR) is a college committee whose goal is to encourage the adoption of new technology to the learning process at Northampton. At the same time, we promote college-wide planning and discussion about learning and technology as basic to the process.

New this season, requests for new SmartRooms or SmartCarts and requests for TurningPoint Audience Response System kits should be made using the new Request Forms (TLTR Smart Request 08-09 and TLTR Clicker Request 08-09, respectively) for these “standard” technologies. The approval/submission process is the same as that of a standard TLTR Proposal, but it is not necessary to complete/submit a standard TLTR Proposal form for these requests.

If you have a proposal for a new SmartRoom or SmartCart to enhance teaching and learning at Northampton, please fill in the fields in the top/right corner of this form and add your responses to the following questions:

1. Usage of technology: Identify all existing courses that will be the immediate primary users of the technology. For each course please indicate the following:

a. Number of sections per year

b. Approximate number of students per section (actual, not cap)

c. Percentage of class time that will be spent using the technology

d. How many hours/week outside of class time will each student spend using the technology to complete homework assignments?

2. Identify all new or existing courses within your department that are potential users of the technology.

3. Are there other potential users beyond your department? How much access would be available to them?

4. Has your proposal been reviewed by your cluster?

PLEASE NOTE: The deadline for smart requests for the following academic year is October 29, 2007, and requests should be submitted via email to the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, c/o rreddin@northampton.edu, and to Computer Services, c/o drighi@northampton.edu . The evaluation process will begin in November.
