Lorie Spohn began teaching at NCC's Horizons for Youth in the summer of 2008. She teaches a variety of art courses, including drawing, sculpting, cartooning, and mixed media. A published author, she added a writing course to her repertoire last year. She serves as a substitute teacher in both the Whitehall and Salisbury School Districts.
Spohn also tutors for Wyzant and The Tutoring Annex. She holds teaching certificates in both Art and Elementary Education from PA and another in Elementary Education from NJ. She was awarded a post-baccalaureate degree in elementary education from Western Governors University, and a Bachelor of Fine Art from West Virginia University. She's taught art in private and public schools for ten years.
Spohn's classes give students new artistic experiences. She encourages them to stretch themselves by using new materials and techniques. Her goal is to teach art to children as a means of self-expression.
