What's new in computer services?

LifeSize Professional Video Conferencing

LifeSize PVC is NCC’s newest communication technology designed for inter-campus meetings. This professional system provides seamless high-definition video and superior audio to up to 4 simultaneous sites serving between 3-20 participants at each site.
Note: NCC Laptop Videoconferencing, designed for smaller groups of 1-5, is still available for use.

The LifeSize system is made up of a pan-tilt-zoom camera, a phone/mic or micpod, a remote control, a codec (does all the magic!), and a 37” plasma monitor securely cradled on a mobile stand.

LifeSize PVC systems can be found at each of our primary campuses:

MAIN – CNTR117 (WWII boardroom)
MONROE – TNRV141 (conference room)
FOWLER – FWLC637 (conference room)

What's New in Computer Services

Internet2 Pilot Program

Internet2 is a consortium of universities, industries, government, and the international community. Internet2 provides a separate network for research and education that is not connected to the commercial Internet. This network provides increased bandwidth allowing for enhanced video images, sound, video conferencing, etc.

The following PowerPoint presentation contains an introduction to Internet2 and its possibilities. Please read the notes for each slide as a narrative to the presentation. NCC is receiving a trial run of Internet2 and if you would like to join the Pilot Program of this technology, please contact Danay Gangewere (dgangewere@northampton.edu) or Amy Roche (aroche@northampton.edu)
.
