Writing/Reading Tutoring
Writing/Reading tutoring is available at the Learning Center in College Center 315. Trained, professional tutors are happy to help you with your writing questions:
- Review English Grammar
- Navigate Connect.web
- Develop topics
- Organize your ideas
- Structure your paragraphs
- Help you check your sentences for grammatical correctness
- Improve study strategies for textbook reading and note-taking
We are not editors or proofreaders, but we can assist you in learning these skills yourself.

All currently registered NCC credit students may schedule one appointment per week for each class in which they require writing or reading assistance. ACT 101 students may have two hours per class. Appointments are scheduled on the hour: Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

- Stop by the Learning Center and speak with the secretary
- E-mail the secretary

Online Tutoring - Use our Elluminate Live program to discuss your writing questions online with a writing tutor. To request an appointment, to go lcwriter@northampton.edu

E-mail Tutoring - Write to a tutor with a specific question or problem. Please specify the course (e.g. PHIL202), instructor, and assignment. A tutor will respond within one or two working days. lcwriter@northampton.edu.

Writing Handouts - Download versions of the grammar and writing handouts available in the Learning Center. Topics include paper organization, thesis statements, transitions, sentence fragments, PAP/MLA citation formats and more.
