The
Learning
Center
and Tutorial Services
What they provide:
Handouts--The Learning Center provides handouts on many topics, including
writing questions (thesis statements, grammar, organization, citations, etc.), study
skills, time management, test taking, and approaches to math problems. Many of these
handouts are also found on the Learning Center webpage.
Appointments--Students are encouraged to call (x5517) or stop by the Learning
Center to make an appointment to see a writing or subject tutor. Students participating in the Act 101 program can use an additional hour of tutoring per week, per subject. Tutoring sessions are scheduled on the hour from 9-7 Monday-Thursday and 9-4 on Friday.
Walk-in Tutoring--Tutoring is available on a walk-in basis in CC-315 for Math and
Accounting, and in Penn Hall for Science classes (9-7 M-Th, F 9-4). Math and Computer
Science also have tutoring Saturdays 11-4.
Class syllabi--The Learning Center maintains a file of faculty syllabi for both tutor
and student reference. Please send us current copies of your syllabi either by e-mail or campus mail. This information is helpful as we work with your students throughout the semester.
Facts--In the 2004-2005 academic year, our tutors worked with over 2000 individual
students from 300 different courses, and spent 23,000 hours tutoring.
