SKILLS BASED CERTIFICATION COURSES

OPERATOR DEFECT RECOGNITION FOR HYBRID, MICROCIRCUITS AND RF/MMIC MODULES – 2 DAYS
This course will train the individual line worker to understand of the overall visual inspection criteria required to make a quality decision on in-process piece parts. “Knowing what to do” is the first step in order to lower expensive rework costs when defects are not understood or judged properly. This course defines the inspection criteria based on traditional Mil spec guidelines in conjunction with industry accepted “best commercial practices”.

How will you benefit?
After completing this course you will:

  • Know what you are looking at and what constitutes a “reject” in the production flow
  • Understand the technical rationale to support your decisions
  • Be able to explain to others visual defects that result from the basic manufacturing processes such as: wirebond, component attach, thick and thin film processing, etc.

Who should attend?
This course is a must for technicians, operators, quality assurance and others engaged in the overall manufacturing processes. Upon successful completion students will receive a certificate issued by the Northampton Community College valid for two years.

WIRE BONDING CERTIFICATION FOR OPERATORS AND TECHNICIANS - 3 DAYS
Wirebonding is a fundamental core technology used throughout the microelectronics industry. This course addresses the need for highly skilled engineers and operators in the wirebond process. Students learn appropriate problem-solving skills and gain a better understanding of defect causes and preventative measures. Do your operators really have the process understanding that they need? Targeted multimedia presentation will introduce the theory of wirebonding and wirebond testing (i.e. wire pull and ball shear). The lectures, combined with practical hands-on laboratory exercises, will allow the operators to understand the wirebonding process. The operator skills are certified through written tests and proficiency demonstrations on the last day of training.

Benefits:

  • Grasp the basics of thermosonic and ultrasonic wire bonding
  • Recognize visual defects and how to prevent them
  • Learn the fundamentals of wire pull and ball shear testing
  • Know how to set up and use wirebonding equipment

This course is designed as a beginning to an intermediate- level course for operators and technicians with limited wire- bonding experience.
