New Student Orientation and Course Registration Information

We’re very excited you’ve chosen to join the Northampton community! Your journey as a Spartan begins with New Student Orientation. New Student Orientation will prepare you to meet the academic demands of college, connect you to new opportunities, and we will help you create a schedule that fits your lifestyle.

Our online New Student Orientation - Preparing for Course Registration has been designed with all students in mind. It’s online and self-paced so you can complete it when it’s convenient for you. Degree-seeking, guest or visiting, transfer, dual enrollment, international, and veteran students all have sections to review as a part of the course registration process. You can access the online New Student Orientation using the login information sent from Northampton to the email account on your application.

Do I need to take the online New Student Orientation or attend an on-campus orientation?

If you are a new student at Northampton, you must complete the New Student Orientation. It provides you with next steps to register for your courses at Northampton. Degree-seeking, transfer, dual enrollment, and international students all have sections to review in the online version.

Do I need to take a placement exam before orientation?

It is important that your placement level in English and/or Mathematics is determined before meeting with your Success Navigator but it is not required before completing the online New Student Orientation. In fact, we discuss placement in detail in the online New Student Orientation. Placement testing may be required before you attend an on-campus orientation.

Where do I get my MyNCC username and password?

Your Northampton username and password were emailed to you upon your acceptance to NCC. This information was sent to the email address you used to complete your application. You will need this information to access orientation and other online systems at Northampton. If you need assistance obtaining your log in information, please contact our Records Office at

How should I prepare for Online Orientation?

We suggest the following:

- Set aside 30 to 45 minutes to complete

- Have your Northampton username and password available

- Internet access is required to access the online orientation

How should I prepare for On-Campus Orientation?

We suggest the following:

- Set aside 2 hours for the event

- Have your Northampton username and password available

- Submit transcripts and complete placement testing, if required

Do dual enrollment students need to complete orientation?

Yes, there is important information in the online orientation for dual enrollment students. We review your next steps to get registered for classes. If you were previously a dual enrollment student and are now a degree seeking student, you should retake the online orientation, because degree-seeking students need different information.
