Northampton Community College was awarded a Susan Harwood training grant from the Occupational Safety & Health Administration to deliver free training on environmental infection risks and hazards while offering information to implement appropriate infection control methods and procedures for general industry employees and employers.
Infection Control for Industry Employee Awareness - Provides employees from a variety of workplaces, an awareness of environmental infection risks and hazards while offering information to implement appropriate infection control methods and procedures. An overview of virus and bacteria characteristics, implementation of infection preventive measures, appropriate selection, and use of personal protective equipment along with risk management methods will serve to inform workers of their infection control responsibilities while working within their respective workplaces. Class length: 1.5 hours
Infection Control for Industry Employer Awareness - In addition to the content delivered in the employee class, the employer class will review the required infectious disease prevention plan and discuss:
- OSHA's General Duty clause
- OSHA recordkeeping and reporting
- OSHA expectations for worker protection
- Infection prevention measures, including PPE
- OSHA’s Mini Respiratory Protection Program (“mini RPP”)
