Community Update - College Closure

March 16, 2020

Dear NCC Colleagues,

Based on Governor Wolf’s announcement late today that the entire state of Pennsylvania is on a shutdown of all non-essential businesses, NCC will be closed effective tonight, March 16, at midnight until further notice. Beginning on Monday, March 23 we will be moving credit course instruction fully online for the foreseeable future. Community education courses are suspended indefinitely.

Please do not report to work at your NCC campus or site tomorrow unless you are deemed an essential employee. Your immediate supervisor or vice president will be reaching out to you directly if you fall under that designation.

When possible, all employees are encouraged to work remotely. Your supervisor will connect with you tomorrow to identify next steps.

Employee compensation during this time has been communicated via email to all faculty and staff. Please check your email for details.

This is one of the biggest challenges that NCC has ever faced and is changing literally hour-to-hour. Thanks for your flexibility and understanding as we navigate this unprecedented situation. We are following the recommendations of the government to protect the health and safety of all of our community members.

Faculty training which was scheduled for the next few days will now move to online. Dr. Bortz will be sending a message shortly clarifying details.

I have scheduled an online meeting today, 3/17, for all staff and faculty at 11 a.m. Please check your email for instructions on how to join in.
