Elzbieta McDonald was born in Poland and received her Master’s Degree in German Philology (literature & history) from The Warsaw University, where she later taught German in the Institute of Art. She came to the U.S. 30 years ago, and has been teaching German as an adjunct at different colleges in the Lehigh Valley: Lafayette College, Moravian College, and Lehigh University. McDonald has also taught German (and Polish) at NCC.
Elzbieta finds teaching very rewarding. To teach a language also means to present to the students the richness of the culture, the history, the tradition, and to help them understand a different mentality, different ways of thinking. Learning a language enriches us in so many ways, and opens our minds to a new world.
Apart from teaching, she enjoys reading history books, traveling (Vienna, Prague, Warsaw), classical music (Chopin, Bach) and gardening. She is married and her son works as film editor in Los Angeles.
