Learn the essential skills to save lives and reduce injuries in the critical first moments after an emergency has occured. Our comprehensive training features hands-on instruction and includes certification exams where applicable. Programs are held at the Fowler Family Southside campus in Bethlehem and the Pocono campus in Tannersville.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
This intermediate-level, skills oriented course involves extensive hands-on training
in the assessment and treatment of the sick and injured for emergency services
personnel. Training includes EMS operations, airway management, BLS/CPR, medical
and traumatic emergencies, lifting and moving patients, incident management, and
more.

Requirements for enrollment:
- Some requirements have fees which are the responsibility of the student.
- Must be at least sixteen years of age to enroll.
- There is no absenteeism allowed for the duration of these programs. Candidates for the EMT and EMR programs must attend a mandatory orientation session prior to enrolling.
Must be completed prior to registering:
- Proof of personal health insurance. Insurance must cover the student for the duration of the course. Proof of personal health insurance is required to attend this program. Short-term, personal health insurance may be available at www.pahealthinsurancecoverage.com/short-term-coverage/.
- Pennsylvania Criminal Background Clearance (PATCH)
Must be completed by the first day of class:
- FBI Criminal Background Clearance
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance
- Uniform: Navy Blue or Black trousers or BDU pants, closed toe shoes or boots. No sneakers or open toe shoes such as flip flops or sandals. Wristwatch with second hand is required.
- Completion of FEMA online training courses IS-100.c and IS-700.b.
- Completion of PA online Hazardous Materials Awareness course.

Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)
Entry-level emergency medical provider course designed to prepare individuals who
initiate patient care in a pre-hospital, industrial, or first responder setting. Program consists of approximately 90 hours of classroom lecture and skills labs including preparatory, airway management, CPR, patient assessment, medical and trauma emergencies, special patient populations, and EMS operations.
