Microcredentials in Manufacturing
Northampton Community College will continue to offer an accelerated training program for those who have struggled to attain consistent employment or education. The "Micro-credentials in Manufacturing" program prepares successful completers for entry-level positions in the manufacturing industry and has created a talent pipeline to help employers meet their need for qualified employees.
This non-credit program, funded by a grant from the PA Department of Community and Economic Development, features three courses which, upon completion, will provide job seekers with certifications and micro-credentials which reflect the skills and knowledge earned. Our program graduates have already begun successful careers in manufacturing companies across the Lehigh Valley!
Students will receive a combination of hands-on, on-line and classroom instruction. They will have opportunities to hear from a range of experienced instructors, tour local manufacturing companies and participate in our Employer Day.
Ours students graduate with:
- industry-approved certifications for entry-level manufacturing positions including OSHA-10
- measurable skill gains in shorter timeframes
- a “foot in the door” for local employers
- an opportunity to bridge non-credit and credit course learning
- a retraining opportunity in an established and growing industry
The program is free to participants who meet eligibility requirements including: Must be able to work legally in the U.S., be 18 or older, and must have at least an 8th grade-level English and math ability. No high school diploma or GED is required for the program.
