“I was not the best student in high school, but NCC gave me the opportunity to become the student I wanted to be,” says Hannah Seltzer, a communications graduate and resident of Reading, PA.
She proved to be an outstanding student, who has greatly matured, taking the many opportunities and assuming responsibilities the College offers. A major reason she enrolled at NCC was that the school offered her the opportunity to play soccer, a sport she loves. On the field, she led the team in goals and broke a single season record, scoring nineteen goals.
In addition to playing on the soccer team, she was vice president of the Business Club and an NCC social media intern. She also assists the business department as well as career services and the alumni office. “I think being involved is 100% the reason that NCC feels like home,” she says. “If you are able and your schedule allows it, it is necessary to get involved wherever you can.” Moreover, she views her professors, advisors and coaches as friends and family. “Most everyone is willing to help you succeed, if you let them.”
Seltzer’s interest in communications stems from her desire to be in a field where she can meet, talk to and engage people every day. She advises students in her major to keep an open mind and look at different perspectives.
Seltzer plans to continue her education at Delaware Valley University, and looks forward to playing soccer there.
She has praise for NCC. “NCC quickly became my home because of its unique atmosphere and amazing faculty and staff,” she says. “I originally chose NCC because I wanted to play soccer, which I did, but I quickly saw that there is a lot more that NCC offers,” she says.
