Roger Ross Williams ’84

Roger became the first African American director to win an Academy Award, for Music by Prudence, chosen Best Documentary, Short Subject in 2010. His film, Life, Animated, premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for a 2017 Academy Award. Roger serves on the Board of Governors for the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, and is currently working on feature documentaries for CNN Films and the BBC, and a reality series, Traveling While Black.
