Student Orientation

Congratulations on Becoming a Spartan!

IMPORTANT: There are no more orientations before classes begin on August 22. Here are some options for new students who haven't completed Orientation yet:

  • The Mid-Fall session begins September 28. Registration is open now. The last day for a new student to register for these terms is September 25.
  • The Accelerated II session begins October 16.Registration is open now. The last day for a new student to register for these terms is October 15.
  • Our 4-week online winter courses that begin Dec. 16 and new students can begin registering Sept. 29.
  • Spring classes begin Jan. 19 and new students can begin registering Oct. 26.

We are incredibly excited to meet you! In order to register for classes, most new students must attend a Student Orientation.

  • Guest/visiting students are not required to complete Orientation but participation is encouraged.
  • Incoming dual enrollment students are required to complete Orientation. Dual Enrollment means you are a current high school student who will remain in high school while taking classes at NCC.
  • All other new students are required to complete Orientation.

Most sessions are online and last 60–90 minutes.

Fall classes are open for registration. Before signing up for classes, complete orientation and meet with an advisor. We encourage you to complete orientation as soon as possible.

During Orientation, you'll learn about sending in your transcripts, completing your FAFSA, logging into your Student Workday account, accessing your NCC email and more. When possible, we recommend that students join the online sessions from a computer or laptop rather than a mobile device.

Before you register for Orientation, make sure you've completed your NCC application. Need help with your application? Watch this short video.

Orientation FAQs

Part 1 of New Student Orientation is a Zoom call that lasts 60 - 90 minutes.

After Orientation Part 1, sign up for a one-on-one meeting with your academic advisor. Before Orientation Part 2, you should have submitted your transcripts and checked your placement testing requirements.

To find your advisor, log into your Workday Student Portal. Under "Your Top Apps," go to "Academics," then "View My Support Network." There, you'll find your advisor's name, contact information, and in-person and virtual drop-in advising hours.

Register for Classes

If you are required to take a placement assessment, you should complete that prior to meeting with an academic advisor as part of Orientation Part 2.

Placement Assessment Information and Eligibility

Yes! New students must attend a mandatory orientation. Orientation is an opportunity for you to take important steps before classes start, including setting up the technology you'll need at NCC and preparing your academic plan.

Guest/visiting students are not required to complete Orientation Part 1 but they are strongly encouraged to complete this step.
