Introduction to Zoo & Wildlife Enrichment

In partnership with the Lehigh Valley Zoo, Northampton Community College is pleased to offer a new community education course on zoo & wildlife enrichment. This unique program provides an introduction to enrichment in zoo and wildlife centers and why it is necessary for the health and well being of captive species.

As a result of attending the course, participants will learn:
  • the importance of enrichment in promoting the health of captive species.
  • to identify different types of enrichment and their purposes.
  • safety considerations when providing enrichment.

Additionally, the course will provide a basic understanding of animal behavior, animal welfare and zoo conservation. The course will conclude with an interactive lab hosted by the Lehigh Valley Zoo.
