As a result of attending the course, participants will learn:
- the importance of enrichment in promoting the health of captive species.
- to identify different types of enrichment and their purposes.
- safety considerations when providing enrichment.
Additionally, the course will provide a basic understanding of animal behavior, animal welfare and zoo conservation. The course will conclude with an interactive lab hosted by the Lehigh Valley Zoo.
The tuition for the course is $49. The course includes a two hour lecture and one hour lab. The lab will take place at the Lehigh Valley Zoo. Students are responsible to provide their own transportation to the zoo and for the $20 zoo admission fee.
