
NCC Automotive Skills
March 6th the automotive department of NCC will again hold their automotive skills trouble-shooting contest. Six finalist teams who achieved their place through a written exam last fall will compete in hands on events to vie for a 1st, 2nd or 3rd place trophy and prizes. All students will receive an NCC auto tech shirt, sway, with a scholarship on the line to the first place team. Each competing team consisting of two competitors will engage in diagnosis of the following six areas and systems:• State Inspection• Brakes Station• Check Engine light: Diagnosis – GM product• Electrical work station• No Start condition• Engine Mechanical StationThese tasks include mechanical knowledge, precision measurements, understanding of electrical principles, vehicle communication systems diagnosis, use of automotive resource programs and critical diagnostic thinking skills.Student teams will be coming from Wallenpaupack High School, Berks Career & Technology Center East, Middle Bucks Institute of Technology, Bethlehem Area Vocational Technical School, Tunkhannock Area High School and Warren County Technical School.An award banquet will be held beginning at 4pm for the teams, instructors and guests. Additionally the winning school will get a vehicle donation. We look forward to the event as a community partner to our CTE schools. With the ever changing technological advancements to the transportation industry we need to have professional and knowledgeable technicians. These competitions showcase skills and foster success for future technicians to keep our industry and county moving.
