When They See Us Screening
The Annual Humanities Program and the Center for Community, Equity, and Inclusion are hosting a 4-day screening of the acclaimed Netflix docudrama "When They See Us", based on the true story of the Central Park 5. In 1989, five Hispanic and Black youths were wrongfully accused and incarcerated for a crime they did not commit, highlighting the racial injustice that had and continues to permeate America's criminal justice system.
Dr. Yusef Salaam, one of the Central Park 5, now known as the Exonerated 5, will be visiting NCC on April 15th for an important conversation about injustice, resilience, and activism. Attend one or all of the "When They See Us" screenings to learn more about this miscarriage of justice, and Dr. Salaam's ability to thrive in spite of it.
Join us across Pocono and Bethlehem campuses for daily screenings of this 4-part series between 11am and 12:15pm on 2/10, 2/11, 2/12, and 2/13. Pocono campus screening take place in Pocono Hall, Room 108, and Bethlehem screenings take place in the Student Life Zone. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided to attendees, with the opportunity to discuss each episode in an open forum immediately following the screenings.
