Polk Street Garage Opens

On August 1, a grand opening and ribbon cutting of the Polk Street Parking Garage in Southside Bethlehem was held outside the garage off 3rd street behind Northampton Community College (NCC) Fowler Family Southside Center. The nearly $22 million seven level parking garage will provide 200 permitted spots out of over 700 for NCC students, faculty and staff at the Southside Center.

President of NCC, Dr. David A. Ruth, said, “This center is a hub for life learning and a space for the whole community to enjoy. The addition of the parking facility will make accessing our programs and facilities even easier.”

The garage, run and owned by the Bethlehem Parking Authority, is located at the intersection of Polk and East 3rd streets. There is a pedestrian bridge to NCC from the garage.

Mayor of Bethlehem, J. William Reynolds, said, “When you go through the Southside these days you realize how much our community is in demand. People want to live here, work here, and go to school here at NCC. This makes it easier to do those things.”
