Professor Gordon-Reed, the Carl M. Loeb University Professor at Harvard University, is one of the nation’s most celebrated historians. She has received sixteen major book awards — including the Pulitzer Prize in History (2009) and the National Book Award (2008) — for her groundbreaking work The Hemingses of Monticello: An American Family (W.W. Norton, 2008).
