Psychology Degree Comparison

Psychology vs Counseling Psychology

A degree in psychology has so much to offer! For students who know they love psychology but aren’t sure what their niche is yet, the A.A. Psychology major can be a great fit. Students can learn about the varied disciplines in psychology and take time to explore their own interests through the different psychology courses that NCC has to offer, and that continue to grow!

Then there are some people who just know that they’ve always wanted to help others. If you are one of those people, then the A.A.S. program in Counseling Psychology is for you! Students will have the opportunity to learn about psychology, but with a more direct focus on counseling and mental health. There is also an internship component to this program that gives students a snapshot experience of a career in behavioral health/ human services.

Several course requirements for the Psychology (A.A.) and Counseling Psychology (A.A.S.) programs overlap and, if an A.A. student develops a passion for behavioral health/ human services during their studies, changing to an A.A.S. major is possible. Both degrees are transferable to 4-year institutions.
